Vic v Kent over 70 scoresheet

Match 2 – Victoria Over 70’s v Kent

Victoria scored a tight win by 8 runs today versus County Kent. After a long drive to Marden CC, Sharpie either won the toss or negotiated it, and decided we should bat first.

Wilson and Crane opened the batting on a good pitch. Wilson went in the firswt over but Crane put his head down and batted to almost the retirement of 65 but was out on 62. Neville has scored 107 runs so far. Ashby came and went and Perrett hit the ball well to make 16, then Cuddon compiled a solid 23 off 39 before holing out.

Hutchesson had his first hit and made a welcome 39 off 37 balls and had a terrific partnership with Hartrup of 54 runs. The highlight of the day was an all run 4 by these two.

Victoria finished 8 / 184

Following a short Tea Break, Kent started batting with a very good open bowling partnership by Hopkins [9 over 0/20] and Hutchesson [6 overs 1/26].

Abraham and Wilson had an excellent bowling partnership with Gordon bowling 9 overs 3/39 and Wilson 9 overs 1 / 14.

The last ten overs saw a frantic run chase by Kent, but scoreboard pressure was the key, and following good bowling by Cuddon and Perrett got us home.

An incident in fielding saw Peter Flack trip while chasing the ball and knock himself out for awhile, and a local nurse came to his rescue.

A very excited Aussie contingent celebrated their first strong win, and came off the park at about 8pm, ready for putting "Pork on your Fork" from the spit roast dinner.

Neville Crane won the man of Match award

COMMENTS
Victoria received great hospitality from Kent and Marden CC. A Hog on the spit was cooking all day ready for the evening meal.
This was Victoria's first win in their second game of the tour.
